Marlborough, MA—ReWalk Robotics, the leading exoskeleton manufacturer, announces additional health insurance coverage reimbursements for its Personal Systems worldwide.

The latest reimbursements come from insurance providers around the globe. The organizations providing these reimbursements include insurers for the U.S Department of Defense, as well as Workers’ Compensation groups in the U.S. and Germany. ReWalk is working with insurance providers around the world to establish reimbursement policies for exoskeleton systems for all qualifying recipients in the spinal cord injured community.

“We are encouraged by the ongoing developments with insurance reimbursement and coverage for ReWalkers here in the U.S. and abroad,” said ReWalk Robotics CEO Larry Jasinski. “Health insurance providers continue to acknowledge the importance of exoskeleton technology for the spinal cord injured community with each system they purchase. We believe this is just the beginning of critical progress in the industry.”

In 2014, ReWalk announced the first coverage for a Personal System by a U.S. Workers’ Compensation insurer in the Midwest. And in 2014, mere days after receiving FDA clearance for its Personal System in the U.S., ReWalk announced the James J. Peters VA Medical Center had purchased a system for a U.S. Army Veteran from the Vietnam era.

ReWalk is a wearable robotic exoskeleton that provides powered hip and knee motion to enable individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) to stand upright and walk. The system provides user-initiated mobility through the integration of a wearable brace support, a computer-based control system and motion sensors. The system allows independent, controlled walking while mimicking the natural gait patterns of the legs. ReWalk is the only exoskeleton system cleared by the FDA for both personal use as well as use in a rehabilitation setting in the United States. ReWalk has also received regulatory clearances for their systems in several global geographies including: North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
