New microwave sounder satellites marking Tomorrow.io’s 5th and 6th satellites delivered to orbit, further improving its resilience platform capabilities
Boston, MA – December 23, 2024 – Tomorrow.io, the world’s leading weather intelligence and resilience platform, today announced the successful launch and deployment of its latest set of microwave sounder satellites which launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket during the Bandwagon-2 rideshare mission. This milestone further demonstrates Tomorrow.io’s unique ability to deliver cutting-edge weather forecasting technology at a fraction of the cost traditionally associated with large-scale satellite and forecasting systems, reinforcing their position as a global leader in weather innovation.
Tomorrow.io leverages both advanced technical capabilities and cost efficiencies, ensuring that critical weather data is more accessible than ever before. This synergy enables Tomorrow.io to provide governments, industries, and communities with reliable, real-time atmospheric insights that enhance preparedness and resilience, protect infrastructure, and support economic stability.
“At Tomorrow.io, we’ve proven that superior weather intelligence does not have to come with a premium price tag,” said Jen Splaingard, SVP of Space and Sensors at Tomorrow.io. “Our satellites are delivering data that would have been cost-prohibitive just a few years ago, we are setting the global standard for advanced weather forecasting.”
Armed with proprietary satellites and AI/ML-driven modeling, Tomorrow.io captures critical atmospheric data—temperature, humidity, precipitation, and tropical cyclone insights—that historically has been challenging and costly to obtain. The resulting forecasts not only improve day-to-day decision-making for governments, disaster response teams, and businesses, but also empower communities with more actionable early warning systems for major storms and floods.
“With this launch, we’ve demonstrated that cutting-edge technology and resilience can be affordable and immediately impactful,” added Rei Goffer, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Tomorrow.io. “We’re proud to supply our incredible customers ranging from the United States Air Force to Uber with next-generation weather intelligence to address today’s challenges and tomorrow’s needs.”
Tomorrow.io’s platform combines unique satellite data, AI and machine learning, and end-to-end software providing predictive insights to mitigate risk, improve efficiency, and solve any weather-related challenge. Trusted by 50% of the top 10 Fortune 500 companies, the United States Government, and more, Tomorrow.io is redefining the weather industry amongst its critical technology needs.
